The simple answer is YES- However, you have to be very careful not to get stung with a Warranty that costs hundreds of pounds but leaves you with little or ZERO cover! Pay as much or as little as you want, it’s the small print you need to read VERY CAREFULLY!
Is a used car warranty essential or is it cheaper to pay for repairs upfront? Answer: your guess is as good as ours. Even brand new vehicles can go wrong. Buying a car is a gamble. The correct Warranty gives you that added piece of mind! Generally, when you buy a car from a car dealer, the free warranty will cover you on engine and gearbox components.
Don’t be fooled though, as when they say “Engine and Gearbox” it makes you think that you will get a brand new engine if it blows up. This is not the case. All Warranty companies will tell you what is covered, however, if the fault is through neglect or general wear and tear then you’ll generally find you are not covered. Warranties only cover you on the parts listed providing it was a sudden mechanical failure.
So, if you thrash your car down the motorway and accidentally drop the gear from 5th to 1st, then your engine will EXPLODE! And so will your head when you find out it’s not covered by that expensive warranty you took out! Get yourself a Warranty, but READ the small print first!
